The best GEO tools do not all measure the same thing. Some run a large prompt index. Some track a small set of questions every day. Some inspect crawler logs. Some connect AI visibility with site analytics. A few combine those jobs, often at very different price points.
That makes a feature-count leaderboard almost useless. Before choosing a generative engine optimization platform, decide which evidence you need to put in front of a client—and whether the product exposes enough of its method to defend that evidence.
If you are buying for client delivery, the companion AEO tools guide for agencies covers workspace separation, per-client prompt budgets, exports, white-label reporting, and effective price per client.
This guide compares Profound, Peec AI, OtterlyAI, Scrunch, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Semrush, and Brandvane on that basis. Vendor capabilities and public prices were checked against official pages on August 28, 2026. Plans change quickly; verify the live page before buying.
Disclosure and product update - September 10, 2026: Brandvane is our own product. Its SEO ($29/month) and Pro+ ($59/month) plans are live, with a customer workspace, paid research, and Markdown/CSV exports. Brandvane is narrower than a continuous multi-engine AI monitoring suite. Competitor facts below retain their August 28, 2026 review date; this update changes Brandvane facts only. See current pricing.
The short answer
- Profound is the broadest fit here for a well-funded team that wants answer-engine monitoring, content agents, prompt-volume research, analytics integrations, and enterprise controls in one platform.
- Peec AI is a strong fit for agencies that value daily prompt tracking, flexible model selection, raw-chat export, Looker Studio, and a documented crawler-log workflow.
- OtterlyAI offers the lowest public entry price in this set and unusually broad exports; crawler analytics starts on a higher plan.
- Scrunch is built for teams that want monitoring, page audits, crawler or agent traffic, and an optimization delivery layer in one enterprise-oriented workflow.
- Ahrefs Brand Radar is strongest as a large-scale discovery layer for teams already working in the Ahrefs data ecosystem, with custom prompt tracking available alongside its huge search-backed prompt index.
- Semrush makes sense when AI visibility needs to sit beside established SEO, competitor, content, and reporting workflows.
- Brandvane fits solo consultants and small teams seeking quoted, on-demand SEO research, saved evidence, and separate fresh-AI checks inside a compatible assistant. It is not a continuous multi-engine AI monitoring suite.
The rest of the guide explains those conclusions—and the caveats behind them.
Choosing AI SEO for brand awareness
The best AI SEO tool for brand awareness is the one that helps with the decision you need to make. Improving your content, observing brand mentions and measuring visits are different tasks. A platform can support more than one, but its visibility score alone does not tell you how many people know or remember your brand.
| Your next decision | What to look for | A practical starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Which customer questions should our content answer? | Keyword research, competitor pages and evidence you can export | Use your existing research or Brandvane’s connected SEO tools with a supported assistant. |
| How can we make our offer clearer? | A repeatable page-review and content-brief process grounded in business facts | Apply one playbook from the free Marketing Skills Pack to your own page. |
| Where do AI answers mention competitors instead of us? | Relevant answer surfaces, consistent questions, inspectable citations, dates and completed sample counts | Compare the monitoring platforms in this guide. Confirm whether they observe consumer products or sample APIs. |
| Are AI assistants sending people to our website? | First-party referral analytics with a defined date window | Analyze a GA4 export with the free AI Traffic Report. |
For a small business starting out, first identify useful customer questions and improve one relevant page. Then choose how to measure the result. Brand mentions in sampled answers, visits to your website and customer recognition should be assessed separately.
Where AI agents fit into the workflow
An assistant can apply a playbook to your business context, review research and help prepare a brief. Brandvane’s paid assistant connection supplies on-demand SEO research and saved results; the free skills pack supplies editable instructions. You can also use the pack with your own exports. See the ChatGPT, Claude and Codex connection guides.
Our free tools provide a small prompted-domain AI check and browser-based referral analysis. They do not measure total awareness or continuously monitor AI platforms. Automated weekly ChatGPT and Google AI Overview reports are coming soon and are not available to purchase yet.
What to compare before you compare vendors
Model coverage
Count the answer surfaces your buyers plausibly use, but do not confuse a longer logo row with better measurement. Ask which product mode or API is sampled, whether the model is disclosed, how location is handled, and whether the underlying instrument can change without a break in the trend.
Sampling and replication
Daily tracking tells you frequency, not replication. A vendor can run one answer for a prompt each day or multiple same-condition samples in a wave; those designs answer different questions. Ask how many answers support a percentage, whether failed runs remain visible, and whether raw answers can be inspected.
Crawler verification
An AI-readiness site audit is not the same as observed crawler access. A checklist can find blocking rules. Server or edge logs can show requests that actually occurred. User-agent strings can be spoofed, so ask what “verified” means and whether crawler purpose is preserved.
AI-referred human visits
Crawler traffic and human traffic are different. If a platform claims AI traffic attribution, ask whether it reads your first-party analytics, estimates competitors’ traffic, analyzes edge events, or groups crawler requests under the word “traffic.” Each can be useful; none is interchangeable.
Export and client delivery
For consulting work, the dashboard is often less important than what can leave it. Look for raw-answer export, citations, CSV or JSON, shareable links, printable reports, scheduled delivery, and white-label controls. Confirm which plan unlocks each one.
Price at the workload you need
Entry prices can hide a single engine, a small prompt allowance, annual billing, or one domain. Price the actual mix of prompts, models, markets, projects, seats, refresh rate, and exports your client load requires.
GEO tools compared by measurement method
“Not verified” below means we did not find a clear promise in the public product or help pages reviewed. It does not prove the capability is absent from a paid account.
| Tool | Answer coverage and sampling | Crawler evidence | Human referral support | Export and delivery | Public starting price* |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Profound | Starter: 50 prompts, ChatGPT only, daily. Growth: 100 prompts across 3 answer engines, daily. No same-wave repetition rule found publicly. | Agent Analytics lists CDN, hosting, analytics, and CMS integrations; ask how bot identity is verified in your stack. | Google Analytics is listed among Agent Analytics integrations. Confirm the exact referral and attribution fields in a demo. | CSV and JSON listed on Growth; enterprise API. | $99/mo Starter or $399/mo Growth, billed yearly |
| Peec AI | Starter: 50 prompts, choose 3 models, daily. Raw chats are exportable. No same-wave repetition rule found publicly. | Crawl Insights ingests Cloudflare or uploaded log files and identifies AI bot hits. | Peec publishes analytics-joining workflows, but we did not verify a native GA4 report in the standard brand plan. | CSV chat export; Looker Studio on Advanced; broader agency and enterprise integrations. | About $95/mo Starter; verify live billing |
| OtterlyAI | Lite: 15 prompts across 4 answer surfaces, daily. No same-wave repetition rule found publicly. | Agent Analytics ingests server logs on Standard and above. | Public Agent Analytics docs reviewed describe crawlers and agents, not a GA4 human-session report. | CSV/JSON raw answers, CSV citations, and PDF reports on all plans; Looker Studio on Standard+. | $29/mo monthly or $25/mo annual |
| Scrunch | Starter lists 350 custom prompts plus 1,000 industry prompts and broad answer-platform coverage. No public repetition rule found. | Agent traffic monitoring and page audits are core capabilities; verify bot-validation detail during trial. | Public pricing says agent traffic can be monitored; the exact separation of crawlers, referred humans, and conversions should be tested. | Reporting dashboard is listed; public pricing did not specify raw-answer export formats. | $250/mo annual or $300 month-to-month |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Index of 405M+ search-backed prompts across 7 AI platforms plus configurable custom prompts from monthly to daily. The index is a discovery instrument, not your own first-party demand log. | Brand Radar docs reviewed do not present verified server-log evidence as a measurement lane. | AI referral traffic is outside the core Brand Radar method described on its public page. | Large indexed dataset and custom prompt reports; confirm the export allowance for your Ahrefs plan. | $199/mo for one index or $699/mo for all platforms; custom checks priced separately or included by plan |
| Semrush | Prompt database plus 25 custom prompts on the Base AI Visibility plan; Brand Performance uses synthetic prompts and weekly updates, while custom tracking is daily. No same-wave repetition rule found. | Site Audit checks AI readiness; that is not the same as observed, verified server requests. | Competitor AI traffic is sold in a separate Traffic & Market toolkit; do not treat that estimate as your GA4 sessions. | CSV exports; paid report add-ons add scheduled, linked, and white-label delivery. | $99/mo per domain, billed annually |
| Brandvane | On-demand OpenAI answer samples; separate DataForSEO recorded mentions. No included automated multi-engine AI panel. | Supplied logs can inform a separate audit; no automated ingestion in SEO/Pro+. | Free GA4 CSV analysis runs locally in the browser. | Customer workspace; Markdown/CSV exports; 90/365-day retention. | SEO $29/mo; Pro+ $59/mo; separate credits and fresh-check allowances (updated September 10, 2026). |
*Public US pricing as displayed or documented on August 28, 2026, before tax. Annual commitments and add-ons materially affect several rows.
Profound: broad platform, enterprise path
Profound’s current pricing page separates a $99-per-month Starter plan from $399-per-month Growth, both billed annually. Starter is limited to ChatGPT tracking and 50 prompts. Growth lists three answer engines, 100 unique prompts, daily frequency, and 9,000 responses per month. Enterprise expands the engine set, security, integrations, and support.
The platform reaches beyond monitoring. Profound sells content and optimization Agents, prompt-volume research, Answer Engine Insights, and Agent Analytics. Its public comparison lists integrations with major edge and hosting platforms plus Google Analytics; Growth lists CSV and JSON export.
That scope is the reason to consider it and the reason a small consultancy should price carefully. If you need a broad operating platform and can use the automation and enterprise path, Profound may consolidate several jobs. If you need a modest client panel with transparent replication, ask the sales or trial team to show the raw answer denominator, failed-run treatment, same-prompt repetition, and exact analytics attribution before deciding.
The constraint-led Profound alternatives guide maps lower-budget, smaller-engagement, existing-stack, evidence-export, and technical-delivery needs without turning the choice into a vendor leaderboard.
Best fit: an in-house or agency team with enough program scale to use monitoring, research, analytics, and content workflows together.
Peec AI: agency reporting and flexible daily tracking
Peec AI’s brand pricing currently describes 50 prompts and three selectable models on Starter, 150 prompts and two projects on Pro, and 350 prompts, five projects, multi-country support, and Looker Studio on Advanced. Its own published instructions list Starter at about $95 per month, though the rendered live price can vary with billing; confirm it at checkout.
Peec exposes practical agency plumbing. Its documentation explains raw chat export to CSV, and its Looker Studio connector can carry visibility, citation, and chat data into client dashboards. Crawl Insights accepts a Cloudflare connection or uploaded logs and reports AI bot hits.
The product tracks daily, but daily frequency alone does not reveal whether the same prompt is repeated under the same conditions. If sampling noise matters to your client claim, ask how many responses sit behind each metric and whether failed attempts remain in the coverage record. Also verify whether the plan you are considering includes the integrations shown in Peec’s agency materials.
Best fit: an agency that wants configurable daily monitoring and needs data to leave the vendor dashboard through CSV or Looker Studio.
OtterlyAI: low entry price, extensive export options
OtterlyAI’s pricing page lists Lite at $29 month-to-month or $25 per month on annual billing. Lite includes 15 prompts, four answer surfaces, daily tracking, unlimited team members, one workspace, citation analysis, audits, and detailed reports. Standard rises to $189 monthly and adds 100 prompts, unlimited workspaces, API and MCP access, Looker Studio, and Agent Analytics.
Otterly’s public export documentation is unusually specific: prompts and citations can leave as CSV, raw answers as CSV or JSON, and audit and brand reports as PDF. That is valuable for a consultant who needs an evidence appendix or wants to build a reporting layer outside the product.
Its newer Agent Analytics reads server logs and categorizes crawler activity. The public material reviewed describes requests from AI agents and crawlers; it does not establish a first-party GA4 referral lane. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing it with platforms that report human sessions.
The Lite plan is an inexpensive way to test the interface and export path. Its 15-prompt ceiling is also easy to outgrow across clients, products, or markets, so model the Standard price before standardizing your service around it.
The focused Otterly AI alternatives guide maps six other platforms to the specific operating need that could justify a switch—and states where Otterly remains the better fit.
Best fit: a solo consultant testing GEO monitoring, or a team that values portable raw answers and can move up-plan when crawler analytics or more prompts are needed.
Scrunch: monitoring plus technical optimization delivery
Scrunch’s live pricing page positions Starter at $250 per month with annual billing or $300 month-to-month. It lists 350 custom prompts, 1,000 industry prompts, page audits, personas, citation tracking, agent traffic monitoring, and coverage across a broad group of answer platforms. Growth adds more volume; Enterprise adds security, data API access, and scale.
Scrunch differs most clearly in what happens after monitoring. Its Agent Experience Platform is designed to provide an AI-oriented version of site content to agents, while page audits and insights identify gaps. That can appeal to a technical or enterprise team that wants measurement and a delivery layer from one vendor.
It also deserves additional diligence. “Agent traffic” can include different event types, so ask to see how the dashboard separates crawler requests, on-demand fetchers, human referrals, and conversions. Confirm how bot identity is validated, which exports are available on the intended plan, and whether the optimization layer fits your governance and site architecture.
Best fit: a larger team that wants prompt monitoring, technical diagnostics, observed agent activity, and an active delivery layer rather than measurement alone.
Ahrefs Brand Radar: the large discovery index
Ahrefs describes Brand Radar as an index of more than 405 million search-backed prompts across seven AI platforms. The prompts are modeled from its keyword and People Also Ask data. That provides immediate market and competitor discovery without waiting for a custom panel to accumulate history.
This is a materially different instrument from a small client-specific tracker. Search-backed questions are a useful proxy for demand; they are not a log of private assistant prompts. Use the index to discover topics, competitors, and cited sources, then use custom prompts when you need a controlled series around the client’s actual buyer questions.
Brand Radar is priced by index: Ahrefs currently documents $199 per month for one platform or $699 for all platforms, with custom prompt check tiers and some custom tracking included in Ahrefs plans. The economics can make sense for an existing Ahrefs team using the wider web, search, and content data. They are harder to justify for a small consultancy buying only a narrow prompt report.
Best fit: an SEO team that values broad, immediate market discovery and can use the surrounding Ahrefs dataset—not only weekly client tracking.
Semrush: AI visibility inside a wider marketing stack
Semrush’s AI Visibility pricing starts at $99 per month per domain on annual billing. The Base plan lists 25 custom prompts, daily tracking, competitor analysis, prompt research, and an AI-readiness site audit. Its broader Brand Performance reports use synthetic prompts and weekly updates.
The advantage is adjacency. A team already using Semrush can connect AI mention and citation work with competitor research, site auditing, content workflows, and presentation tooling. CSV export is available; scheduled and white-label report features can require separate reporting add-ons.
The boundaries matter. Semrush’s AI-readiness audit can identify technical issues, but it is not evidence that a verified crawler actually requested the page. Its competitor AI traffic dashboard belongs to a separate Traffic & Market toolkit and uses a different method from first-party GA4 sessions. Ask which dataset supports each chart before combining them in a client narrative.
Best fit: a marketing team that wants AI visibility alongside an established SEO and reporting suite and will use enough of that suite to justify the bundle.
Brandvane: on-demand SEO and AI evidence
Brandvane offers on-demand keyword, domain, competitor, backlink, rank and audit research through its hosted MCP service and customer workspace. Recorded AI mentions use DataForSEO evidence; fresh checks use one sampled OpenAI API answer per question. The two evidence types and allowances are separate.
The live SEO and Pro+ plans cost $29 and $59 per month, with 900/2,200 SEO credits and 5/20 fresh AI checks respectively. Unused SEO credits carry forward during an active subscription; fresh AI checks do not. Pro+ supports the owner and one teammate. Both plans include Markdown/CSV exports and 90/365-day saved research retention.
Optional weekly Google ranking checks require explicit recurring approval and spend SEO credits. These are not recurring AI-answer checks. Current plans do not include an automated multi-engine AI panel, crawler-log ingestion, or white-label reporting. The methodology describes evidence standards, not a promise that every measurement lane is automated. The free traffic tool processes a supplied GA4 CSV in the browser.
Best fit: a consultant who wants bounded research with cost quotes and retrievable evidence. For continuous multi-engine prompt monitoring, automated log ingestion, or enterprise reporting, evaluate a tool that explicitly supports those requirements.
Questions to ask on every trial or demo
Bring one real client prompt and one reporting claim to the demo. Then ask:
- How many completed answers support this number, and can I see the denominator?
- Does daily tracking mean one response per prompt, or repeated samples?
- Which product mode, model, location, and account state produced the answer?
- Can I inspect and export the raw answer and every citation?
- What happens to failed samples?
- If a prompt changes, does the old series remain separate?
- Is “crawler traffic” based on verified logs, a site audit, or an estimate?
- Is “AI traffic” a first-party human session, a crawler event, or modeled competitor traffic?
- Which features and exports are included in the quoted plan?
- What will the same workload cost across all clients, models, and markets?
If the demonstration cannot answer the first eight questions, the dashboard may still be useful for exploration. It is not yet the instrument you should use for a strong client claim.
The best GEO tool is the one whose claim boundary fits your work
There is no honest universal winner. Profound and Scrunch cover broader enterprise workflows. Peec and Otterly make data portability and operational tracking accessible at different price points. Ahrefs provides a discovery index no small custom panel can match. Semrush places AI analysis inside a mature marketing suite. Brandvane focuses on quoted, on-demand SEO research, occasional OpenAI checks, and reusable evidence exports. Repeated multi-engine measurement requires a separately designed workflow or commissioned audit.
Choose the tool that measures the event you intend to report. Then keep the sampled answer, verified fetch, and human visit separate long enough that the evidence—not the category label—determines what you tell the client.
Our first-party study, The Tools AI Recommends Don’t Rank on Google, shows why broad search footprint should not become a procurement shortcut: in one disclosed 23-answer sample, repeated AI citation and supplied Ahrefs footprint did not move together neatly.
