Codex setup

Put Brandvane SEO tools in Codex.

Sign in once, approve the connection, and start with a free quote. You can connect and check your balance before subscribing.

  1. Open your workspace

Sign in with Google. Under “Connect your agent,” copy the Codex configuration block. It contains the correct server, registered client and callback for this deployment.

  2. Add the configuration

Add the block to your Codex config.toml. Keep your existing servers. Then run:

    codex mcp login brandvane

Approve “Connect Codex?” in your browser. If you leave the browser open too long, run the login command again to start a fresh request.

  3. Start a new Codex conversation

    Ask:

Use Brandvane to show my credit balance and quote
keyword research for “AI SEO tools” in the US.
Show the credit cost and maximum results.
Do not run paid research yet.

You should see a five-credit quote for up to 25 keywords. A new, unsubscribed account has zero credits.

  4. Run a bounded request

After subscribing, ask Codex to run that quoted request with a five-credit maximum, keep the result, and show the remaining balance. Use the same request key for retries so an already completed request returns its saved result.

For the research process, read the SEO MCP guide and the small-business keyword research walkthrough.

Research tools and saved evidence

Available tools depend on your access and the current catalog. Core examples include keyword_research, serp_overview, domain_overview, competing_keywords, seo_balance, seo_quote, seo_usage and seo_result. Additional tools support keyword gaps, referring domains, Google ranking comparisons, audits and AI evidence where enabled. Use seo_export to export a completed saved result as CSV or Markdown without starting new research. Ask the assistant to inspect the available tools rather than assume a fixed catalog count.

Connection controls

Access tokens last one hour. Supported clients renew them automatically; the connection can last up to 90 days, with a fresh sign-in required after 30 days without use. Revoke the connection from your workspace to stop access immediately. If Codex asks you to reconnect, repeat the login command.

Codex can run research and read results. Its token cannot manage billing or delete your account.

If something looks wrong

Confirm the server is enabled with codex mcp list. Start a new conversation after adding it. For a callback mismatch, copy the current workspace configuration again. For a pending research request, inspect usage instead of retrying under a new request key. Contact support@brandvane.ai with the request ID, never a token.
